This dua is mostly sung by kids in India & Pakistan schools, it was written by very famous freedom fighter Allama Iqbal. Lab pe aati hai dua ban kay tamana meri
Zindagi sham’a key surat ho Khudaya meri.

May longing comes to my lips as supplication of mine O Allah!
May like the candle be the life of mine O Allah!

Verse 2:

Dur dunya ka maray dam say andheera ho jaye!
Har jagah meray chamaknay say ujala ho jaye!

May the world’s darkness disappear through the life of mine!
May every place light up with the sparkling light of mine!

Ho maray dam say younhi meray watan key zeenat
Jis tarah phool say hoti hai chaman ki zenat.

May my homeland through me attain elegance
As the garden through flowers attains elegance.

Zindgi hoo maray parwanay key surat Ya Rab!
Ilm ki sham’a say ho mujko muhabat Ya Rub!

May my life like that of the moth be, O Allah!
May I love the lamp of knowledge, O Allah!

Ho mara kaam ghareeboon key himayat kerna
Dard mandoon say za’ieefoon say muhabbat karna.

Maray Allah! burai say bachana mujhko

    I remember reciting this beautiful poem supplication in the school assembly daily, in the Islamabad Primary School #28 in G-9/3 during 1985-1987. The whole day's momentum was built, along with National Anthem and recitation of 6 Kalamas daily. I hope they still go thru the same routine.
    I left Pakistan in 1990 but I still remember the beautiful days of youth. It encultates the discipline in the very early days of our youth. May Allah (SWT) bless our Pakistan.

      Lab pe aati hai dua…. is really indeed a very good dua but try to avoid Kawwali like khaja ki diwani etc because that contents lot of shirk and words which are against the teachings of Rasulallah Salallahu alaihi wa sallam (Peace be upon him).
